Geoff and Kathy

The two amazing persons that I met today is Geoffrey and Kathy. Geoffrey or Geoff, as he is known to everyone, is my HEAD of the dept. His patience and sensitivity is something I can't measure. Everytime I talk to him it seems its increasing. I spoke to him regarding my dissertaion which I might fail to submit by due date (next week). He will try for me and would ask for further extension. I mean why can't my professors or teachers be just like him. The dept would go to any extent to help the students. I am sure if the same would have happened with me in my previous uni in India, they would have rebuked me; probably would have said how the hell can it be that I don't stop eating but stop working on my research. I think they fail to understand that their admonishes do no wonder to a student but a simple gesture sympathy and empathy would do the trick of making the student feel grateful towards them. Unless they don't change the way they treat the students, the uni is going to go down the drains (except for few smart students who anyway would be doing good irrespective of the teachers handling them). Well Geoff, I really feel proud to know you and do my studies under you.
Kathy, the dept would have been just nothing without you. Can you believe that dept actually asked us what we need to make the postgraduate studies room efficient. Kathy had a chat with us...We spoke what we believed and I know they are going to make the changes soon. How many dept actually involve students when they decide about their infrastructure...None or rare. Dept of IR and politics under Kathy administrative head is surely different. Well done Kathy!!!

FIRST BLOG

The first ever blog from me. At 12.57 am in Sydney and I am shocked seeing myself still awake. But the blogger thing has overpowerded my sleepy eyes. So I will write till my eyes fight back and decide to take rest for a while.
The day was cloudy as the Weather Channel indicated so I was geared up with my flowery umbrella...so much not me. I finished my synopsis for a presentation which I thought was today but yahooo what a mistake...I am done with the paper but I presenting next week. On what?? Well it may be a bit dull no wait a while...its on terrorism so its increasingly interesting, right mate. I have to write from international law perspective so I am unsure if I would be successful in keeping up with an interesting write up. I will try, try and try and I know I will fly.
I met my mate Stef after three months. She is just an amazing American. Came to study down under in March 06...hooked up with Kei (Aussie-Jap).April 06..Kei proposed to Stef May 06...and married July 06. Pretty fast right!!! She is happy with Kei and that is all one can ask for. Just a little anecdote, she said she will not marry unless every person has the equal right to marry. Thats makes her first person in my knowledge to utter something like that. Brad Pitt is second after her. Well its different story that she is married when world has yet to witness equality.
My eyes are giving in mate. See you guys soon.
G'day,
Ray
